WyoDuner's Temp Gauge Mod |
Temperature Gauge for your Banshee Parts you will need: 1 to 2 foot of 3/8" I.D. hose 1 inch of 3/8" O.D. / 1/8" I.D. hose. Vacuum hose works perfect. 1 Tee, 3/8" O.D. 1 Temp Gauge. I got mine at Wal-Mart for about $5.00. It's the type used for
measuring food temperature. They have a better one sold in the automotive section that has the temp gauge and a AC pressure gauge for about $8.00 or so. That one doesn't vibrate as much when the engine is running. 4 hose clamps to fit the 3/8" O.D. hose. |
Start with one of these. It reads from 0 to 220 degrees. |
Here's the plumbing. Splice the 3/8" Tee into the hose that goes from the head to the radiator. 1 side of the tee should go to the radiator, 1 to the head and the other is where the temp gauge goes in. Use a smaller diameter hose to fit the temp gauge to the 3/8" hose. For the section where the thermometer goes in, it should be just long enough for the thermometer to reach to the intersection of the tee. If the tee goes too far in it will impede water flow some. |
Close up view of the gauge mounted through a small hole in the plastic. Be sure to line up the hole inthe plastic with where you expect the hose to come up at. A little patience here will ensure that it fits correctly. Almost looks as though it was built that way. |
Another view of the finished project. It's easy to see when riding and doesn't get in the way. |

Here's some pics of the second installation I did on my newer Banshee. You can see the tee in better detail as well as the top where the thermometer slides into the hose. The smaller hose at the top is 1/8 I.D. vacuum line hose. |
